Your New Hampshire LLC’s tax classification depends on the number of its members. Single-member LLCs are taxed like Sole Proprietorship by default, while multi-member LLCs are taxed as general partnerships. 

Unless members choose a different status, LLCs in New Hampshire are classified as pass-through entities. This means that the business itself doesn’t pay federal income tax on its profits. Instead, the LLC’s members pay income taxes through their personal returns. 

LLCs in New Hampshire can also be taxed as S-corp or C-corp. Businesses classified as S-corps do not pay corporate income tax and are able to make contributions as members without having to pay the 15.3% federal self-employment tax on these contributions. 

New Hampshire LLCs taxed as C-corps face double taxation, with the LLC paying 21% federal corporate income tax and the members paying 15.3% self-employment tax on dividends.

When it comes to state taxes, New Hampshire doesn’t have an official state income tax on businesses or individuals. However, depending on the income, an LLC may be required to pay the state’s Business Enterprise Tax and Business Profits Tax.
